The
Seminary
I live at the seminary of
the diocese of Den Bosch. It is located in the center of
the city in a street that used to be very catholic. To the
left of the seminary there used to be a hospital run by
brothers. Unfortunately that building is squatted since
1978.. Our seminary used to be a monastery and to the right
of the seminary building there was a Carmelite monastery
for women. All the sisters have left and in this building
there are apartments now. Hmm I wouldn't like to live
inside a chapel though.. Opposite of the seminary there was
a school run by sisters but only the outside walls of this
building stand. They renewed the inside completely and made
apartments behind the old walls. So we have the honor to
hold the catholic tradition up in our street.
The building on the
picture above hosts the seminary for almost 20 years now.
Currently we have 15 seminary students. It is not much but
there is a certain cycle. Maybe next year there will come
more students to join us. It is always good to realize that
it is all up to God.
Personally I am very happy that I started at the seminary.
It was some decision to take but the 'yes' to God lead to
an inner happiness I hadn't felt before. One of the very
good things in this seminary is the daily opportunity for
Eucharistic adoration. We have a nice chapel which is
located right in the center of the building.
Along with my two yearmates, Sebastiaan and Matthijs I have
just finished my first year. Focus will be on philopsophy
now the two coming years. Our year will start again the
last week of august when we will go to Rome to celebrate
the 20 year jubilee of the seminary.
