In september 2004 I left The Netherlands to spend a year at the International Academy for Evangelization. I wanted to learn more about faith and I wanted to invest a year to get closer to God. It was a real crucial year in my life. I have learned a lot there and it was an unforgettable experience!
I have made several pages with a lot of pictures to give you an impression of my year at the academy.
The location of the academy
The academy is located almost directly behind this theater in the center of Vienna.
The house in which the
academy is located is hundreds of years old. Once a former
chancellor of Austria, Leopold Figl, worked in this house
and that is why the house is called 'Figlhaus' nowadays. It
is near all the main buildings from which in earlier days a
gigantic empire was governed. The former imperial
residence, the 'Hofburg' is at walking distance from the
academy building.
Because of the location, the Figlhaus can really be a
center for new evangelization in middle Europe.
My
fellow-students
I
did the academy with 15 other people from 8 other
countries. The international character of my year abroad
was one of the most interesting things! Below is a group
pic:

From left to right top
row: Heidi from Germany, Laetitia from France, Maja who was
one of the academy leaders, Dasa from Slovakia, Klara from
Austria, Martin Fenkart who was the academy leader back
then, Scobo from Romania. Scobo left us after a few weeks
because of problems with documents.
Going down the slide: Martin from Austria, Joachim from
Germany, standing left of the slide is Alphons, our academy
priest, I am sitting below Alphons and under me are
Siegfried from Austria and Jozef from Slovakia.
Standing to the right of the slide are Iwona from Poland,
Kathrinn from Germany, Rok from Slovenia and Juergen who is
now the academy leader and was also in the leader team back
then.
Sitting below Rok is Emese from Hungary. Not on the photo
are Marton from Hungary, Anastasia from Slovakia and Gunta
from Letland. Gunta came to us in
Oktober.
