For Easter we travelled to the Bavarian place of pilgrimage Altötting. In Altötting there is also an academy for evangelization. They are specialized in music there. All the people who attend this academy are skilled musicians already. The year in this academy is different from the one in Vienna. They have music class everyday and in the beginning they work on a musical which has to be finished before Christmas. The Altötting academy is based in the Josefsburg. As you can see on the picture below it is really a 'château' like building.
Every year hundreds of
youths come to Altötting to celebrate Easter with
eachother. They come from all over Europe. There was a
whole bus from Latvia when we were there. The musical
skills of the students of the Altötting academy make a very
special Holy Week liturgy possible. They use a lot of
instruments and these people are very skilled choir
singers.
It was difficult for me to have a good Holy Week in
Altötting. I was feeling very weak after the sickness I had
and I was really looking forward to the vacation beginning
at Easter monday. I travelled back to The Netherlands for
that vacation. It was only one week that I could stay at
home but I sort of came alive again and I was ready for the
last three months of the academy.
